10 Years ago, out of necessity to fill a niche void, I became fully dedicated to learning the art of gardening. When presented the opportunity to help with a major planting project spearheaded by Jeff Epping of Epping Design, and specifically a planting designed by Roy Diblik of Northwind Perennial Farm, I jumped at the chance to offer my services. My responsibilities snowballed as more and more on the property required attention, and long story short, I became the volunteer de facto gardener, steward, arborist, and property manager. I went from watering plugs of perennials to designing and maintaining annual, perennial, and native shrub and hardwood forest plantings, as well as fescue and woodland paths, managing an orchard and so much more.
My Business experience came from over 15 years in hospitality, mostly owning and operating restaurants and cafes; most notably, I ran a tea room and retail tea shop on State St. in Madison, WI for 6 years. (I still have a little tea business here) The time I spent working in customer-facing positions has given me a certain aptitude for working with my clients, communicating throughout the process, and providing a service and product that meets and exceeds standards, something the Landscape industry isn’t always known for.
